A: When people ask this question, they are often wondering why they can't just workout by themselves. Or, put another way, people are wondering if the benefits of hiring a fitness trainer really outweigh the financial costs.
So, let's first talk about the benefits that I can offer.
First, I will help you learn to train well - rather than just train. Time and again, I've seen people workout but not achieve significant results because they had never learned the proper technique or effective routines. Teaching you how to workout effectively is one of the primary benefits I offer.
Second, I will save you time. Twenty minutes of effective training can be better than an hour of ineffective training. This result simply goes back to the fact that many people need to change their technique or routine, rather than waste their time with working out more.
Third, I will motivate and encourage you. Of course, in one sense, you are already significantly motivated - after all, you are reading this website. But it is natural for your motivation to wax and wane over time.
I can help provide structure and direction to your routine. I can also help encourage you when you begin to tire during the workout or when you find yourself at certain plateaus.
The fact is that I enjoy my profession and am interested in helping you succeed.
Fourth, I will help you train safely. When you are working out by yourself, it is very difficult to monitor your form and provide objective feedback to yourself about your own strengths and weakness.
Just as there may be times that you give up too soon, there may also be times that you should not ignore the signals your body is giving you to stop. As you try to self-motivate yourself to "push through the pain," you may be putting yourself at risk for serious injury.
All of these benefits are based on the fact that I specialize in fitness training.
Of course, it is your decision as to whether the benefits of a personal trainer outweigh the financial cost. I certainly believe it is and would be glad to talk with you more about it.
