Dear Friends, Family, & Clients:
I found this article on MSN Health and thought you might be interested in it. Click this link: http://health.msn.com/fitness/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100234946&page=3 . The Article is titled "Is Working Out the Newest Health Threat" and explores the dangers and warnings of unqualified personal trainers and workout programs. I was relieved and excited to see this on the front page of MSN news and am glad to see that the issue is being brought to consumer's attention.
Having had over 300 hours of initial education in the professional fitness & health field from numerous nationally recognized organizations, I find it impossible for anyone to begin a profession in personal training without proper education. I continue every year pursuing my education with 30-50 hours of continuing education from top schools and organizations teaching the latest in safety and regulations. In addition to my certifications from American Council of Exercise, NASM, the Cooper Research Institute and the American Heart Association (in both CPR & AED), I am currently pursuing a certification in Muscle Activation Technique, RTS and ACSM.
I encourage you to look up and learn more about these organizations and their mission in providing the top education in physical fitness along with injury prevention. I also encourage that whether you train at Vert. Fitness & Wellness Center with a trainer or any other facility to fully research your trainer and learn extensively about their background. Make sure your trainer is certified, knowledgeable and fully insured. You must feel comfortable with your trainer, have a good rapport, and trust them. A good indicator is whether your trainer does a thorough assessment of your physical capabilities as well as a health history to learn about past injuries and contraindications to an exercise program.
You can be assured that my dedication as a trainer to you includes my dedication to the constant pursuit of knowledge in my field.
All the best,
Trevor Marum
